David Porter

David and wife, Jean, moved to Brooklin in 2006, after 40 years on the faculty at the University of Georgia, where his field was mycology. Four generations of his family have lived in the Blue Hill area, and for 35 years the majority of their family island has been in a conservation easement. He provides to the Board a scientist’s knowledge of land protection issues, as well as leading mycological educational programs for the community. A teacher at local colleges, he also facilitates Colloquy Downeast group discussions. David sings in the Bagaduce Chorale and the Hancock County Gilbert and Sullivan productions.
