The Blue Hill Heritage Trust makes available a number of beautiful and tranquil places around the Peninsula, where you can hike trails, launch your canoe or kayak, observe wildlife, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

1. Blue Hill Mountain
Two steep one-mile trails lead from the Mountain Road in Blue Hill to the 974-ft summit. A loop hike can be created by walking a short connector trail. MORE ABOUT TRAIL
2. Kingdom Woods Conservation Area
Visit Fourth Pond, explore our 800-acre preserve, and hike over three miles of trails. Blue Hill Heritage Trust’s largest conservation area can be accessed from the Kingdom Road or the Mines Road in Blue Hill.

3. Cooper Farm at Caterpillar Hill
A one-mile loop trail winds around the sloping fields and forests on Caterpillar Hill in Sedgwick - best known for its dramatic views from Route 15. The hike can be varied or shortened by taking one of two cut-off trails.

4. Carter Nature Preserve
This 1 mile trail follows the rocky shoreline and forestland at the head of Morgan Bay in Surry. Access is on the Cross Road in Surry.

5. Furth Wildlife Sanctuary & Talalay Nature Sanctuary
Two miles of wooded trail start from the Cross Road in Surry. Several small bridges, dips and curves in the trail an enchanted mossy forest and a beaver dam make this a popular set of trails for children.

6. Peter’s Cove & Peter’s Brook
Enjoy a picnic on the shore or salt water access to Peter’s Cove at the AB Herrick Memorial Landing on the East Blue Hill Road. Across the street, a short trail follows the banks of Peter’s Brook as it cascades into the cove.

7. & 8. Bagaduce Canoe Access
A 400 ft. trail provides access to the western shore of the river from the Bagaduce Road in Brooksville. On the opposite bank, plans are underway to construct a trail that will soon provide access to the eastern shore of the river from Route 15 in Sedgwick.

9. Salt Pond
A 500 ft. trail crosses a privately-owned open field, to provide access to Salt Pond from Hales Hill Road in Sedgwick.

10. South Street to Parker Point Road
A 0.5 mile in-town trail can be used as a scenic shortcut between the South Street shopping area and Blue Hill’s village center. MORE ABOUT TRAIL
11. John B. Mountain
A gorgeous ¾ mile loop trail brings you to the top of John B. Mountain where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Eggemoggin Reach, Blue Hill Mountain and the Camden Hills. A spur trail continues along the wide, flat "School House Road" to some old foundation ruins. Trailhead is at a parking lot on Breezemere Road in Brooksville. MORE ABOUT TRAIL
12. Patten Stream
41 acres of stream-side conservation property located just north of Surry Village with a ½ mile loop trail that crosses smaller braids of the stream and meanders through young forest filled with wildlife. MORE ABOUT TRAIL

- Dogs on leash are welcome on the trail except the trail at Carter Nature Preserve. Please clean up after them.
- Stay on marked trails to minmiize your ecological impact and to respect our neighbors, as adjacent lands are private property.
- Leave plants, animals, rocks and other natural features as you found them.
- If you are part of a party of ten or more, please call BHHT for permission.
