Schedule of Events

Our events are free and open to the public.

NEW THIS YEAR: Tuesday’s @ 10 is an informal group walk each Tuesday morning at 10 am all summer long. It will be led by a member of the Trust each week, and provides community members a chance to get out and walk on new trails in a group setting. Fun, good exercise, see a new trail each week!

JUNE:

Tuesday, June 16th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Parker Point Rd – South Street Trail. (parking @ Parker Pt. Rd near the fountain)

Monday, June 22nd ~  How to Use Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide at Hatch Cove with Sarah O’Malley. 1-2:30 pm at Hatch Cove in Castine. Join Sarah to learn about Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide and how to effectively identify plants with it. Please bring a copy with you if you have it.

Tuesday, June 23rd ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Osgood Trail, Blue Hill Mountain.

Saturday, June 27nd ~ Quill’s End Farm Tour co-sponsored by the Blue Hill Co-op.  1 pm at Quill’s End Farm in Penobscot.

Tuesday, June 30th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Carter Nature Preserve.

Saturday, July 11th ~ Medicinal Plants with Rachel Randall at Kingdom Woods. 9-11am at Kingdom Woods in Blue Hill.

Tuesday, July 14th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Hundred Acre Wood Trail in Brooklin.

Wednesday, July 15th ~ Horsepower Farm Tour co-sponsored by the Blue Hill Co-op. 1pm at Horsepower Farm in Penobscot.

Saturday, July 18th ~ The History of the Ferry Landing in Brooksville told by Tony Rolfe. 3pm meet at the Brooksville School Parking Lot.

Sunday, July 19th ~ Old Ackley Farm Tour co-sponsored by the Blue Hill Co-op. 1pm Old Ackley Farm in Blue Hill.   CANCELED

Tuesday, July 28th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Kingdom Woods Conservation Area in Blue Hill.

Friday, July 31st ~ Blue Moon Evening Hike up Blue Hill Mountain. 7:30pm at the Field on Blue Hill Mountain.

Sunday, August 9th ~ King Hill Farm Tour co-sponsored by the Blue Hill Co-op. 1pm at King Hill Farm.

Tuesday, August 18th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Patten Stream Preserve in Surry.

Saturday, August 22nd ~ Passport Celebration for all kids that participated in BHHT’s passport program in 2014 & 2015 . 2 pm on the Field at Blue Hill Mountain.

Saturday, August 22nd ~ Exploring Bugs with Nets and Field Microscopes with Lynn Havsall. 2 pm on the Field at Blue Hill Mountain.

Saturday, August 22nd ~ Constellations and Meteor Shower with Lynn Havsall at night on the Mountain. 9:30 pm on the Field at Blue Hill Mountain.

Tuesday, August 25th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Snow’s Cove Preserve in Sedgwick.

Tuesday, August 25th ~ Annual Meeting. Come celebrate our 30th anniversary with Birthday Cake! A public event. 5:30 pm at Kneisel Hall in Blue Hill.

Saturday, September 12th ~ A hike up Blue Hill as part of the Beth C. Wright Center Center’s Ride for Life.

Tuesday, September 15th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Weinland Nature Study Area in Penobscot.

Tuesday, September 22nd ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Snow Natural Area in Brooksville.

Tuesday, September 22nd ~ Mushroom Walk at Snow’s Cove Preserve with David Porter. 1-3pm at Snow’s Cove Preserve in Sedgwick.

Tuesday, September 29th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Post Office Trail in Blue Hill.

 

OCTOBER:

Friday, October 2nd ~ Lichens and Mosses Walk led by Allison Dibble along the Weinland Trail. 3:30pm at Weinland Nature Study Area in Penobscot.

Tuesday, October 6th ~ Tuesday’s @ 10 am. Free group walks for the public on our trails. Becton Trail up Blue Hill Mountain.

Saturday, October 10th ~ (Member’s Only) Growing Maine Native Plants from Seed with Heather McCargo. 10am-2pm at the Carlton House in Blue Hill. Bring a lunch.
