“Passport to the Trails” program

Be an Explorer!

Looking for something fun to do with your children?  In addition to the variety of guided walk & talks and other programs BHHT has scheduled this year, we are providing “Passport to the Trails,” a program to encourage children and their families to explore the outdoors together.

Be an Adventurer! Pick up a Passport to the Trails at our office today and start exploring Blue Hill Peninsula!

On 12 of our trails there is a letterbox somewhere along the trail with a unique stamp and ink pad inside.  When children find the letterbox, they stamp their site passport.

Passports are available at the Blue Hill Heritage Trust office, the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and local libraries.

Alpine & Orion Griffin completed their passports this summer and were the first to claim the special prizes for BHHT explorers.

When children fill the passport with at least 8 stamps, they can bring it in to the BHHT office to claim their explorer certificate and prize.

On August 22nd 2015 we will have a 30th Birthday & Passport Celebration on Blue Hill Mtn in the big field. Please come on out and join us and celebrate all those kiddos who hit the trails this year!

Our passport program was modeled after the Island Heritage Trust’s passport.  Thanks to artist Penny Ricker for creating the nature stamps, to Ken Burgess for building and installing the letterboxes, and to the BHHT Outreach Committee for coordinating this program.
