David Foster of Harvard Forest to Speak in Blue Hill

David Foster, Director of Harvard Forest, is author of numerous books, including the Wildlands and
Woodlands conservation vision for New England. Harvard Forest is one of the county’s oldest
ecological research areas (3,000 acres owned and managed by Harvard University and located in
Petersham, Massachusetts) and Foster is a leading voice in Northeastern conservation.
He will join us to talk about conservation here on the Blue Hill peninsula, where saltwater and land
are so intertwined. Foster’s most recent work, A Meeting of Land and Sea: Nature and the Future
of Martha’s Vineyard, focuses on this connection, and he will use that lens to look particularity at the
Bagaduce watershed.
