John Boit grew up in Penobscot and started his journalism career in Maine at Down East magazine and the Ellsworth American. He later worked nationally and overseas as a journalist and communications consultant, working in dozens of different countries, including living in Azerbaijan and Afghanistan. He co-founded a Boston- and Washington-based public relations firm, where he was a partner for nearly two decades prior to returning to Maine. John and his family now live year-round on the saltwater farm where he was raised along the Bagaduce River.
