Megan Flenniken joined BHHT in 2023 as their Development and Outreach Coordinator. Originally from Texas, Megan’s first experience of Maine was during her junior year of high school when she attended Chewonki Foundation’s Maine Coast Semester. While there, she developed a deep sense of awe for the natural world which blossomed into a lifelong interest in ecology, natural history, environmental science and conservation. She studied Biological Sciences at Mount Holyoke College and holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Stony Brook University. Prior to joining BHHT, she taught science courses and ran outdoor education programming at George Stevens Academy. In her free time she enjoys swimming, sailing, hiking and hanging out with her dog Abby. She feels fortunate to be raising her two young boys with her husband on the beautiful Blue Hill Peninsula.
